Genuine Parallel: Thermodynamic Cycles and entropy formulas (S = klnW). The genuine parallel is the legitimate use of entropy concepts in neuroscience and psychology. Rabeyron (2022) explicitly connects psychoanalytic therapies to the Free Energy Principle, arguing that therapeutic processes involve an interplay between “extension and reduction of free energy”. Wiener (1996) proposed that “the psychic economy of the psychotic close to decompensation fails to evacuate the surplus entropy”.
