It is an upbeat dance-pop, which interpolates Italian group Eiffel 65&#8217;s single &#8220;<strong>Blue (Da Ba Dee)<\/strong>&#8221; from 1998. <\/p>\n<p>THE BEST EXAMPLE OF USING OR UTILISING SOMETHING WHICH ISN&#8217;T YOURS : )<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>Blue (Da Ba Dee)<\/strong>&#8221; is a song by Italian music group Eiffel 65, first released in 1998 in Italy. The following year, in 1999 it reached Nr. 1 in at least 18 countries. Their song-melody has been heavily copied, sampled, remixed, used, reused. In fact, David Guetta&#8217;s idea of sampling the old hit is the best example of using something which isn&#8217;t yours, and making the best of it, not only reaching commercial success&#8230; but even claiming &#8220;originality&#8221; : )<br \/>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-17180-2\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/ogg\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/en\/0\/09\/Blue_%28Da_Ba_Dee%29_sample.ogg?_=2\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/en\/0\/09\/Blue_%28Da_Ba_Dee%29_sample.ogg\">https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/en\/0\/09\/Blue_%28Da_Ba_Dee%29_sample.ogg<\/a><\/audio><span style=\"color: #999999; font-size:12px;\"><em>(Eiffel 65 &#8211; Sample, from Wikipedia)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Of course, Guetta didn&#8217;t &#8220;plagiarize&#8221; anything, it was a business deal. When someone wants to sample an old music, they make a deal with the license holders, generally including a portion of revenue. Eiffel 65, or whoever owns the rights of their song, were compensated accordingly. Yet for many people the song wasn&#8217;t transformative enough to earn respect. For many people it&#8217;s no different than plagiarism, which compromises the integrity of everything. Doing this way (by sampling an old hit, remember &#8220;Blue (Da Ba Dee)&#8221; had reached Nr. 1 in at least 18 countries in 1999) it means everyone could do it, there&#8217;s no need perhaps to be David Guetta : )<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #999999\"><em>(Sky Division, 2025)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Guetta&#8217;s &#8220;I&#8217;m Good (Blue)&#8221; garnered international success by attaining the number one position on rankings in 20 countries and securing a top 10 position in over 15 additional territories. In 2022, the song won an award in the category for the Best Collaboration at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
