…n\u00eb revist\u00ebn Quanta mbr\u00ebm\u00eb e lexova nj\u00eb artikull mjaft t\u00eb gjat\u00eb “Njeriu q\u00eb e vodhi pafund\u00ebsin\u00eb”, shkruar nga Joseph Howlett, 25 Shkurt 2026 – b\u00ebhet fjal\u00eb se si nj\u00eb matematikan “vodhi” di\u00e7 nga miku i tij dhe e botoi si “vep\u00ebr e tij, si pun\u00eb t\u00eb veten”.
\nPublikuar n\u00eb v. 1874, matematikani Georg Cantor provoi se ekzistojn\u00eb madh\u00ebsi t\u00eb ndryshme t\u00eb pafund\u00ebsis\u00eb, me \u00e7far\u00eb ai e ndryshoi matematik\u00ebn p\u00ebrgjithmon\u00eb. Tani disa letra t\u00eb zbuluara flitkan se publikimi i tij ishte gjithashtu nj\u00eb akt plagjiature, Georg Cantor i pati vjedhur disa ide, ose men\u00e7urira… nga matematikani Richard Dedekind.<\/p>\n

Anise vet\u00eb s’jam as matematikan as shkenc\u00ebtar, pafaj\u00ebsisht m\u00eb p\u00eblqejn\u00eb storiet q\u00eb flasin p\u00ebr historin\u00eb e shkencave – k\u00ebshtu q\u00eb mund t\u00eb them se m\u00eb p\u00eblqeu artikulli mjaft, ve\u00e7an\u00ebrisht m\u00ebnyra se si mbaronte, pakashum\u00eb artikulli sikur p\u00ebrmbyllej me konkluzat si vijon:<\/p>\n

“Matematika shpesh shihet si shkenca q\u00eb jeton n\u00eb distanc\u00ebn m\u00eb t\u00eb sigurt nga bota reale, dhe larg nga pap\u00ebrsosm\u00ebrit\u00eb e saj. T\u00eb v\u00ebrtetat matematikore si shkenc\u00eb jan\u00eb absolute. Matematika e vler\u00ebson bukurin\u00eb dhe eleganc\u00ebn mbi gjith\u00eb gj\u00ebrat tjera. Kur \u00ebsht\u00eb n’pyetje matematika, \u00e7far\u00eb ka r\u00ebnd\u00ebsi reale \u00ebsht\u00eb puna, bota q\u00eb eksplorohet. \u00c7do gj\u00eb tjet\u00ebr, p\u00ebrfshir\u00eb autor\u00ebsin\u00eb dhe meritat autoriale, jan\u00eb dyt\u00ebsore”.<\/p>\n

Por kjo maskon realitetin se si funksionon ndjekja e s\u00eb v\u00ebrtet\u00ebs shkencore. “Matematika \u00ebsht\u00eb nd\u00ebrmarrje kolektive… shpesh nuk e keni at\u00eb shembullin e mrekulluesh\u00ebm t\u00eb nj\u00eb personi q\u00eb fillikat i vet\u00ebm i shpik t\u00eb gjitha”.<\/p>\n

Gjithashtu maskohet fakti se matematika b\u00ebhet nga njer\u00ebzit. \u00cbsht\u00eb e pamundur t’i ndash egot, opinionet dhe t\u00eb metat personale nga vet\u00eb puna shkencore. Kur b\u00ebhet fjal\u00eb p\u00ebr pun\u00ebn e tyre, matematikan\u00ebt jan\u00eb shum\u00eb t\u00eb shqet\u00ebsuar p\u00ebr meritat. Shum\u00eb prej matematicien\u00ebve kan\u00eb njohuri pothuajse enciklopedike se kush doli i pari me cil\u00ebn teorem\u00eb, dhe kush i fitoi cilat \u00e7mime.<\/p>\n

Megjithat\u00eb Cantor ishte personi i par\u00eb q\u00eb provoi se ka m\u00eb shum\u00eb numra real\u00eb sesa numra t\u00eb plot\u00eb, gj\u00eb q\u00eb n\u00eb fund t\u00eb fundit e hapi fush\u00ebn e pafund\u00ebsis\u00eb p\u00ebr studime. Por \u00ebsht\u00eb gjithashtu e r\u00ebnd\u00ebsishme t\u00eb njihet roli i Dedekind, sa i p\u00ebrket nj\u00ebrit nga zbulimet m\u00eb t\u00eb m\u00ebdha t\u00eb matematik\u00ebs, dhe t\u00eb gjykohet vendimi i Cantor p\u00ebr t’mos ia njohur meritat e “merituara”. N\u00eb fund t\u00eb fundit, zgjedhjet e Cantor (p\u00ebr t’ia mohuar, ose vjedhur meritat) vet\u00ebm sa e zvog\u00eblojn\u00eb at\u00eb nga hero n\u00eb nj\u00eb njeri ordiner – nj\u00eb pasqyr\u00eb kjo m\u00eb e ndershme (p\u00ebr njer\u00ebzit)”.<\/p>\n

\n“Math is often viewed as the science that lives at the safest distance from the real world and its imperfections. Its truths are absolute. It values beauty and elegance above all other things. What matters is the work, the world being explored. Everything else, including authorship and credit, is secondary”.<\/span><\/p>\n

But this masks the reality of how the pursuit of scientific truth works. \u201cMath is a collective enterprise, even in the case of set theory, you don\u2019t have this wonderful example of a single guy inventing the whole thing\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

It also masks the fact that math is done by people. It\u2019s impossible to divorce egos and opinions and personal flaws from the work itself.<\/span><\/p>\n

When it comes to their own work, mathematicians are very concerned with credit. Many of them have a near-encyclopedic knowledge of who came up with which theorem, and who won which awards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cantor was still the first person to prove that there are more real numbers than whole ones, which is what ultimately opened up infinity to study. But it\u2019s still important to recognize Dedekind\u2019s role in one of math\u2019s greatest discoveries, and Cantor\u2019s decision not to credit him. Ultimately, Cantor’s choices only reduce him from hero to human – a more honest picture”.<\/span><\/p>\n
