Dat\u00eb 17 Maj 2012, Presidenti i Republik\u00ebs s\u00eb Shqip\u00ebris\u00eb, Bamir Topi i akordoi \u201cMedaljen e Mir\u00ebnjohjes\u201d Z. Richard Gere:
\n\u201cMe mir\u00ebnjohje dhe nderim personalitetit t\u00eb shquar t\u00eb artit bot\u00ebror, humanist dhe veprimtar i madh p\u00ebr mbrojtjen e t\u00eb drejtave t\u00eb njeriut, i cili i demaskoi dhe, tutje publikut amerikan iu b\u00ebn\u00eb e njohura krimet \u00e7njer\u00ebzore, spastrimi etnik n\u00eb Kosov\u00eb, n\u00eb vitin 1999, nga makineria ushtarake serbe, kund\u00ebr popullat\u00ebs civile shqiptare q\u00eb jeton n\u00eb tok\u00ebn e vet\u201d.<\/p>\n

N\u00eb v. 2013, Presidenti i Republik\u00ebs s\u00eb Shqip\u00ebris\u00eb, Bujar Nishani i akordoi \u201cMedaljen e Mir\u00ebnjohjes\u201d Z. Robert Elsie, nj\u00ebri nga albanolog\u00ebt m\u00eb t\u00eb shquar q\u00eb p\u00ebr m\u00eb shum\u00eb se 30 vjet kontribuoi n\u00eb promovimin nd\u00ebrkomb\u00ebtar t\u00eb kultur\u00ebs, gjuh\u00ebs, let\u00ebrsis\u00eb dhe historis\u00eb shqiptare. Elsie ishte shkrimtar, interpretues, p\u00ebrkthyes dhe specialist i studimeve albanologjike, autor i librave dhe artikujve t\u00eb shumt\u00eb q\u00eb fokusoheshin n\u00eb aspekte t\u00eb ndryshme t\u00eb kultur\u00ebs dhe \u00e7\u00ebshtjeve shqiptare.<\/p>\n

\n…in 2008 Dr. Elsie evaluated the English version of my poem “Snowman in Deserto” (shown here the 2nd part) – few things he couldn’t understand, for instance he asked “what is Antares?” – I had to “explain” it is one of the brightest stars, a prominent star in the constellation Scorpius (the Scorpion), a red supergiant and one of the brightest stars in the whole sky – I also had to explain the term “censorions” (he asked “did you mean “centurions”? – a centurion was a professional officer of the Roman army, centurions commanded a century of around 80-100 legionaries, I said to him “well… ‘censorion’ is just one of my own terms, poetically speaking it’s kinda the same, a ‘censorion’ can be an executive chief officer, commanding 100 officials in an apparatus, people that have the power of censoring you \ud83d\ude42
