[ Robert Palmer – “Simply Irresistible(1988 – Video) ]

Simply Irresistible” is the 1st single released by English rock singer Robert Palmer from the 1988 studio album Heavy Nova. In 1988, the song reached No. 2 on the B-Hot 100. It was No. 1 on B-Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks for 3 weeks. It also earned Palmer his 2nd Grammy Award the following year, and the song was nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Single.
The music video was directed by British fashion photographer Terence Donovan and shows Palmer surrounded by numerous women, all with the same heavy makeup and sweptback hair style.

…don’t know, I always have to smile when I see Palmer’s videos, as if his ego is heavy loaded with “macho-isme” (I know the videos were directed by T. Donovan but who cares), as if Palmer simply couldn’t resist feeling a macho-man, it’s the same with his video “Addicted to Love” from which (according to me) even Shania Twain got “inspired” for her “Man I Feel Like a Woman”, it was kinda pure “feministic revenge” : )

Robert Palmer (1949-2003) was an English singer and songwriter. He was known for his powerful and soulful voice, his sartorial elegance, and his stylistic explorations, combining soul, funk, jazz, rock, pop, reggae, and blues. Over his four-decade career, Palmer is perhaps best known for the song “Addicted to Love” and its accompanying video, which came to “epitomise the glamour and excesses of the 1980s”. Three of his hit singles, including “Addicted to Love”, featured music videos directed by British fashion photographer Terence Donovan.
Palmer died from a heart attack in a Paris hotel room on 26 September 2003 at age 54.
