Alcmene

(Ἀλκμήνη) - A mortal princess of Mycenae and the mother of the legendary hero Heracles by Zeus. To seduce her, Zeus took advantage of the absence of her husband, Amphitryon, by transforming into his exact physical likeness. To maximize his time with her, Zeus commanded Helios (the Sun) to remain asleep, stretching a single night into the duration of three. Alcmene became pregnant with twins: Heracles (the son of Zeus) and Iphicles (the son of her mortal husband), and she spent her life protected by the king of Olympus from the relentless, lethal jealousy of Hera.
