John Clarke, Michel Devoret, John Martinis – They were awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics for experiments with superconducting circuits showing that a collective system of billions of electrons can display “tunneling,” mimicking the quantum behavior of microscopic particles. This tunneling work provided a foundation for subsequent development of superconducting qubits.
