…it must have been a river, or a lake, or both – but also, it’s amazing how Neolitic “tech” amazes us with 30 tons stones : )
…we all know, with our “modest heads” : ) that Grand Canyon is a significant natural wonder, showcasing the power of erosion and the geological history of the region, we all knew that Grand Canyon was primarily carved by the Colorado River, which has shaped its dramatic landscape over millions of years, we all knew or supposed that this carving process may have taken place over millions of years, resulting in the canyon’s dramatic landscape…
…yet “Science” magazine writes that now we are almost sure that 4.8 million years ago a lake helped the Colorado River form the Grand Canyon… great, but why would scientists “doubt” it may have been rivers and lakes, it’s 5 million years ago, right, why would you speculate in “Science” about 5 million years ago how nature did its own things, while yet you still didn’t explain exactly how humans themselves build Pyramids… this was just some 3000-4000 years ago, or how the Stonehenge stones were put in place, caramba carambita… where’s 3000 years and where 5 million years – I mean, science is amazing, but also funny, scientists often make us smile, imagine they are debating for decades and now they concluded “it must have been a lake, or a river, or both”, as if we ourselves couldn’t conclude the same : )
…let us wonder again, it’s fun; we know that the average stone at Stonehenge weighs about 25 tons, imagine that… with the heaviest stone, known as the Heel Stone, weighing around 30 tons, also we say (we always have to say something) the stones of Stonehenge were likely transported by Neolithic people from various locations, some of the stones even transported from as far as 350 km away, imagine that… Neolitic “tech” amazes us with 30 tons stones from 350 km far away, we assume they were raised into position using ropes and timber, although the exact methods remain a subject of research + debate + speculation, simply cause we have no idea – so how then, for the great mother of miracles, we dare “speculate” how nature did it’s own miracles with canyons 5 millions years ago, how dare we publish our speculations in “Science”, at the end only to conclude “it were rivers and or probably… lakes” : )

Grand canyon’s origin resolved? Ancient lake’s flood may have etched famed gorge / Mineral grains show Colorado River filled a basin at the canyon’s head millions of years ago / 16 Apr 2026 by Paul Voosen – Science >>

Geologists have long debated how the Colorado River cut through, it’s long been known that the Colorado sculpted the Grand Canyon in its modern form, with its sediments appearing downstream of the canyon as recently as 4.8 million years ago. “The lake must have played a major role in the formation of the Grand Canyon” said Rebecca Flowers, a geochronologist at the University of Colorado (CU).
