Netflix has just released the official trailer for the Grant Sputore’s debut feature “I Am Mother”, it will be streaming on June 7, 2019. As a Concept Designer, Edon Guraziu (GuraCorp) was part of the production process. The titular robot “Mother” (starring just as a “real movie star” : ) together with Hilary Swank and Clara Rugaard) was designed by Edon, and was created by the Academy Award winning team at WETA Workshop – New Zealand.
It took over a year to design and 6 months to build, using a mix of techniques that ranged from traditional sculpture to cutting edge tech, like 3D-printed titanium parts.
In a review (Collider, January 27, 2019 ) Adam Chitwood wrote: “The practical robot design for Mother is genuinely impressive… The robot design is swell, the technology is neat, and the premise is inherently interesting.”
