[ The 51st Poetry International Festival, 11 – 13 June 2021 ]
From the 11th until the 13th of June, Poetry International will take residence in Rotterdam to celebrate the 51st edition of the festival. For an entire weekend will be performances, talkshows, meetings, workshops and livestreams, featuring established poets, inspiring young talents, spoken word-artists, and adventurous wordsmiths.
What You Will Hear Is True
The theme of this year’s Poetry International Festival is “What You Will Hear Is True”. With this theme and the engaged poets taking part this year, the festival hopes to fight back against the ‘violence’ being done to the truth by the stream of supposed certainties, lies, framing and alternative truths that we are constantly confronted with in the media and on social media.
A range of programmes will allow visitors to enjoy the work of Dutch and international poets.
New Narratives
Besides the main theme, the festival will also be focusing on polyphonic poetry in the New Narratives programme, which will present poets and spoken-word artists who draw inspiration from topical issues in society.
