…just learned that donating to Wikipedia makes no sense, they have more money than they need, and they pay themselves huge salaries (some of them, at the top, earn up to 400.000 $ per year), in the fiscal year 2023-2024, Wikipedia generated approximately ~ $181 million, this money came from over 17.4 million donations, with an average donation size of about $10.58. They sent me a “THANK YOU” note : ) but now I am suspicious, I read an article about their fundraising campaigns (in fact 2 artices, also one by Charlene Lensburg, 2022), what I “learned”… well they don’t need our money for sure, from now on they are distrustful, sorry Wikipedia but people shouldn’t believe your banners anymore : )
